Calvin Liang, born in Canton, China, graduated from the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, one of China's most prestigious art academies. He moved to the US in 1987 to work in entertainment and animation; his career included work with Walt Disney Studios and Nickelodeon in the production of the Little Mermaid and SpongeBob SquarePants. Since 2002 he has switched courses to work as a full-time fine artist, focusing on land and seascapes in oil and winning several awards in important exhibitions.
