Works entered were inspired by sport and further subdivided into five medaled categories: architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture. Albert Matignon (1860-1937) was a French artist and a competitor in the 1932 Summer Olympics. Matignon, a graduate of the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, was most notorious for his early 20th century paintings of women under the influence of morphine, though he also painted landscapes, portraits, and nudes.
