Wade, born in D.C. and raised in Maryland, was a professional horsewoman before she was an artist. Her love of animals extended from her equestrian practice to the page; she frequently drew animals, and at age 40 began painting them as well. She primarily painted horses until moving to a coastal area, where seabirds became a new focus. Over the years, her work has garnered enough attention to earn her teaching positions at the Taos Art School and the American Academy of Equine Art, recognition in several magazines, and places in juried national shows.
