The Clipper Ship Prima Donna was built in 1858 by Greenman & Company at Mystic Connecticut. Her first owner was John A. McGaw of New York. She was a handsome medium sized clipper with a long career. She even had a rifled gun mounted on her poop deck during the Civil War. In this scene she is depicted with her sails up and the wind pushing her through the waters of the Atlantic accompanied by the setting sun.
