Artworks › Irving Norman - Portrait of a Woman

Irving Norman - Portrait of a Woman

$0.00
Sold Out
Oil on Canvas
36 x 30 ″

Price on request. Irving Norman (1906-1989) had a style that evolved from American Expressionism, a movement which, post WWII, fell out of favor among a rising conservative atmosphere. Norman's work remained in relative obscurity for decades, though his work itself was monumental - large-sized paintings with distorted, hellish architecture and figures that centered around themes of the human experience, including the horrors of war, technological dependence, class division, and the fast pace at which the world around us always seems to be moving. Now, thanks to several curtors, supporters, and his wife's efforts, his work has emerged into the broader art world.
