Artworks › James McGrew - Yaki Point Sunset Panorama

James McGrew - Yaki Point Sunset Panorama

$2,950.00
Oil on Linen Panel
12 x 24 ″

Oil on Linen Board 12" x 24" Framed Dimensions 18" x 30" National Park: Grand Canyon Description: This piece was painted mostly en plein air at Yaki Point on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon as a thunderstorm rolled across the canyon and created dramatic lighting effects at sunset. I worked quickly to capture the fleeting effects of developing storm clouds, passing rain and dancing light. I made additional adjustments on a second night on location and later fine tuned in the studio.  Throughout the night of that first stormy day, thunderstorms continued to rumble across the canyon and I stayed out most of the night photographing and painting lighting amid the downpours of rain.
